An Italian woman was placed under observation in hospital after she was mistakenly receiving six doses of Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19. The 23-year-old woman is in good condition after receiving fluids and paracetamol following the injection on Sunday, according to AGI news.
Instead of injecting just one dose into the arm of the student, a nurse mistakenly injected the entire vial equivalent to six doses.
The Ospedale Apuane in Massa confirmed that a young woman "was inoculated with an entire vial of vaccine."
The news agency said that previous studies to test overdose of the Pfizer vaccine were limited to four doses. The incident has been reported to Italy's medicine regulator.
Cases of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine have previously been reported in Germany, Australia, and the United States.
