The family members, colleagues, and former students of a teacher at San Roque National High School in Bato, Camarines Sur are mourning after he was swept away by the current after trying to rescue his fellow teacher from the flowing flood water in the spillway on his way to school.

The teacher was identified as Romeo Sison Jr., who teaches at the said school while the fellow teacher was Gemmo Intia. He was found dead two hours after the accident. Intia sustained injuries.

According to his fellow teacher, the victim crossed the spillway on a bicycle when the rushing water swept it into the deep part.

The Bato Municipal Police Station (MPS), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted rescue operations and around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sison was found and brought to the Medical Mission Group Hospital in Nabua where he was pronounced dead.
