Netizens have been taken to social media to voice their frustration after losing all their important files.
Outage detector site Downdetector.com have reported hundreds of complaints around 7:00 AM on Thursday.
Similar complaints have also emerged from Bangladish, showing that several countries have been affected by the same issue using the Meta-based platform.
“Alam mo ba na wala [nang] laman ang files, links and photos/videos [niyo] sa [M]essenger huhuhu,” the page said in a now-viral post uploaded on 12:19 p.m. Thursday.
“Totoo nga, wala na, mukhang nakahalata na sila na [ginagawa] lang natin silang hard drive,” a Facebook user quipped.
“Sana ibalik, hays, daming importanteng files,” another netizen commented.
Messenger users also took to Twitter to express their sentiments about the disappearance.
“Life update? Eto nagluluksa sa pagkawala ng old photos ko sa Messenger," @nickschix wrote on Twitter.
“So, apparently all my media files and links have been wiped out from Facebook Messenger when the app was down the other day. Check your media, files and link folder on your Messenger to see if previously shared images are still there. Mine is gone,” tweeted @napoleonwii.
A user suggest to scroll back up and view the files inside the chat instead. Others can still access some content, but it is hard to get it over especially a year old files.
There still no official issued statement from Meta nor Messenger as of the posting time about the issue.
