Blue Bugatti on the Run: BOC Ramps Up Search, Offers Reward

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is doubling down on its efforts to locate a blue Bugatti Chiron, a high-end sports car smuggled into the Philippines. Following the red Bugatti's recent surrender, the blue vehicle remains elusive, prompting a renewed push from authorities.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) Director Verne Enciso emphasized the seriousness of the case, declaring, "It's going to be a small world" for the car's owner. He reassured the public that the BOC is actively pursuing leads and offered a significant cash reward of 20% of the car's recovered value for any information leading to its discovery.

The blue Bugatti, estimated to be worth around P165 million without taxes and duties, has been under investigation since November 2023 due to "derogatory information." Authorities have issued a warrant of seizure and identified the registered owner, urging them to surrender before facing potential consequences.

Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio expressed confidence in apprehending the vehicle, stating, "We have information on its location, but are verifying it. Surrender is the best option, similar to the red Bugatti's owner."

This development follows the successful recovery of the red Bugatti last week, recovered from a high-end residence in Muntinlupa City. The public appeal issued by the BOC, initially targeting both vehicles, resulted in the red Bugatti's surrender, highlighting the bureau's determination to curb illegal car imports.

Deputy Commissioner Juvymax Uy reiterated the seriousness of the case, stating, "We received information about these cars in November and confirmed they lacked proper documentation. We will find them."

The blue Bugatti's conspicuous nature and the substantial reward offered increase the chances of its swift recovery. The ongoing chase underscores the BOC's commitment to upholding customs regulations and combating illegal activities.
