Manila, Philippines – De La Salle University continued their reign as the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball champions, securing the first Final Four spot with a convincing 70-45 win over Adamson University.
The Green Archers showcased their dominance throughout the game, particularly in the second quarter where they went on an offensive tear. Led by Joshua David's 11 points, La Salle outscored Adamson 25-11 in the second frame to build a comfortable lead.
Reigning MVP Kevin Quiambao continued his stellar performance, contributing 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Henry Agunnane and Raven Gonzalez also played key roles in the victory, adding eight points each.
Adamson struggled to keep up with La Salle's pace, with Cedrick Manzano being their lone double-digit scorer. Despite their efforts, the Soaring Falcons couldn't overcome the Green Archers' dominance.
With this victory, La Salle improved their record to 9-1, extending their winning streak to six games. Meanwhile, Adamson fell to 3-6, creating a three-way tie with Far Eastern University and Ateneo de Manila University at the bottom half of the standings.
The Green Archers now look ahead to their second round matchup with archrival Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Both teams are expected to put on a thrilling display in this highly anticipated clash.
In another game, Ateneo de Manila University secured their first back-to-back wins of the season by defeating University of Santo Tomas, 67-64. The Blue Eagles' strong start proved to be the difference-maker, as they were able to hold off the Tigers' late rally.
