The vibrant city of Bago in southern Negros Occidental is gearing up to light up the night sky once again with the highly anticipated return of the “Lights of Bago (LOB)” on January 1, 2025. This dazzling musical fireworks display, which has become a beloved tradition, will mark its triumphant comeback after a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2020 edition of the LOB, themed “A Rhapsody of Colors and Diversity,” captivated a crowd of over 35,000 spectators with its 26-minute synchronized fireworks and lights show.
It not only showcased stunning pyrotechnics but also raised awareness about important social issues like HIV/AIDS and gender equality. In 2022, the event transitioned to a virtual celebration, offering a nostalgic journey through the best moments of the LOB since its inception in 2009.
The brainchild of European Raymond Stoffel, a retired international corporate lawyer with family ties to Bago City, the LOB has become an iconic symbol of the city’s resilience and unity. Since its inception, the event has been a source of pride and joy for the local community.
This year’s LOB, themed “Lights of Bago: Rebirth of Light,” promises to be a spectacular event that will leave a lasting impression. The 20-minute display will feature a meticulously curated soundtrack that blends timeless classics with contemporary hits, evoking nostalgia and inspiring hope for the future. As thousands of spectators gather at the Manuel Y. Torres Sports Center, they will witness a breathtaking fusion of light, music, and emotion.
Join the city of Bago as they welcome the new year with a dazzling celebration of light, music, and joy. The “Lights of Bago” is more than just a fireworks display; it is a symbol of resilience, unity, and the enduring spirit of the Filipino people.
