Accepting a simple voice call might lead you to get affected by the so called alleged Israeli spyware. Users of the messaging app are urged to update immediately their WhatsApp on their smartphone because of the security threat that hackers might take over your phone by simply answering a phone call.
The Facebook-owned messaging service has discovered recently that hackers could install spyware through an infected WhatsApp voice call. The spyware is capable of infecting through calls, texts, and other data or activating phone's camera.
Financial Times reported an alleged Israeli spyware was developed to exploit WhatsApp by injecting a malware onto targeted phones.
The guardian reported that the number of people spied on is not yet known. A few targets, including a UK-based human rights lawyer and an Amnesty International researcher, have been identified.
