Self-Driving Shuttles Set To Ply During 2019 SEA Games In New Clark City

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is in association with the US mobility company COAST Autonomous to test its low-speed autonomous vehicles with in the New Clark City for Southeast Asian Games.

The fleet of electric COAST P-1 Self-Driving  Shuttles will showcase the future of urban trasportation running a service from the athletes' village, aquatic center and to the athletics stadium in New Clark City. 

Expect to see a numbers of driver-less vehicles roaming around the Clark city this coming November.

The Southeast Asian Games is a biennial event with approximately 8,750 athletes from 11 countries, participating in 57 sports and targeting more than 500 million viewers.

The Philippines are hosting the 30th SEA Games from November 30th to December 11, 2019 in multiple venues around the country. 

"Cities must be for people. Hosting the SEA Games at New Clark City is an opportunity to showcase our vision of a modern, smart and green metropolis," said Vivencio Dizon, President & CEO of BCDA.

Each shuttle can accommodate up to 20 passengers and will transport athletes to and from the Athletes' Village, the Athletics Stadium and the Aquatic Center, BCDA said. Shuttle service will also be offered to the public during the games.
