World's first-ever human-monkey created into the lab of China is a breakthrough for human organ supply

Scientists claim they have created the first ever human-monkey hybrid in a laboratory in China. The new development hoped to eventually allow doctors to harvest an endless supply of human organs for lifesaving transplant.

The team of scientist claim that they successfully combined human stem cells with a monkey embrayo. The Spanish scientist who led the research and created the world's first human-pig hybrid in 2017 - said a human-monkey hybrid could have potentially been born.

Stem cells are the body's master cells with the potential to become any type of tissue or bone which they implanted in a female monkey. The experiment however was terminated before the embryo could grow further.

Concerns have been raised over the experiment partly due to fears that human stem cells could migrate to the brain.

Dr. Angel Raya, director of the Barcelona Regeneration Medicine Center have raised concern about the experiment.

"What happen if the stem cells escape and form human neurons in the brain of the animal? Would it have consciousness?" He said.

"And what happens if these stem cells turn into sperm cells?" He added.
