Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Officially Cancelled After 24 Years

Sorry Victoria's Secret Fans, the much awaited Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is signing off after reigning in 24 years.

After years of watching models ramp walk down the famed catwalk, L Brands, Victoria's Secret's parent company said it was important to evolve its marketing strategy.

"We think it's important to evolve the marketing of Victoria's Secret. We will be communicating to customers, but nothing that I would say is similar in magnitude to the Fashion Show.

"But you can be sure we will communicate to customers through lots of vehicles including social media and various more current platforms.

"It was a very important part of the brand building of this business and was an important aspect of the brand and a remarkable marketing achievement."

The annual event, which used to be watched by millions has been reportedly enduring declining sales and that has been decided to cancel the show, according to the New York Post.

The show suffered a backlash last year after Ed Razek, then chief marketing officer at parent company L Brands, suggested in an interview that a "transsexual" model should not be part of the event because "the show is a fantasy".

"It's a 42-minute entertainment special. That's what it is," he told Vogue.

Mr Razek later apologised for the comments and left the company earlier this year.

The show launched in 1995 and an annual most anticipated event, drawing millions of viewers each year.
