Applicants For Driver's License Must Pass Accredited Driving School Classes Starting April 2020 - LTO

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to implement a stricter policy before taking a driver's license to new applicants starting April 6.

LTO said that all new applicants must pass 15 hours of theoretical driving lessons from an accredited driving schools before they can apply for a driver's license.

To avoid short-cuts on the procedure, LTO will installed automated logbook and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in accredited driving schools to ensure applicants have undergone driving lessons.

A regular visits and audit to accredited driving schools will be implemented to ensure driving classes are conducted.

“This move is to ensure that the applicants will not just pay the instructor to be able to apply for a driver’s license,” Abaton said as quoted in PNA news.

The applicants is also required  to take an automated exam, however, before you will get your student permit, applicants need to undergo eaight hours of practical driving to be supervised by the LTO, before the non-professional driver's license will be issued.

The program is part of the agency's vision to issue driver's license to people who have the capability to drive to minimize road accident.
