Anti-Terror Bill now signed by the president into law

President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 into law on July 3. The new law will give the government more teeth to curb terror threats in the country. 



Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and Interior Secretary Eduardo Año confirmed the news through a text messagesThe law takes effect 15 days after publication.

The Anti-Terror Bill repeals the Republic Act 9362 or the Human Security Act of 2007 that seek to prevent, prohibit and penalize suspected terrorists for up to 24 days without a warrant of arrest.

On a separate statement, Roque ensured that the law would secure the country by going after terror groups.
