South Korean firm investing P5B to build electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Negros Occidental

Electric vehicle plant is coming in the municipality of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental, according to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza). South Korean firm ENPlus Co. Ltd. is investing P5 billion to put up their electric vehicle manufacturing facility that would produce e-jeeps and electric vehicles (EVs).




PEZA Director General Charito Plaza revealed that ENPlus will be the first e-vehicle manufacturer to be registered under Peza, an agency that deals with export oriented firms.



"EnPlus will be our first EV manufacturing to be registered under PEZA, where it can avail of special incentives for pioneering projects," PEZA Director General Charito B. Plaza said.




Its operation will involve the manufacturing of electric cars and electric jeepneys, aim to open opportunities to workers in Negros Occidental.





"ENPlus, a Korean company, is (now) out partner in investing in the countryside and believing in the Philippines as an investment haven in Asia. We appreciate ENPlus in their commitment and alliance with us towards making the Philippines a clean, sustainable, and environment-friendly country," Plaza said.




PEZA will be providing a 30-hectare land "to link prospect industries to ENPlus for joint investment ventures and other related agreements for eligible projects of PEZA."



ENPlus is a manufacturer of fire trucks and fire fighting equipment and is now expanding to e-vehicles.
