A strong earthquake rocks off the coast of eastern Taiwan, Monday evening, which can be felt in the capital Taipei. Still there's no reports of damages or injuries.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.2-magnitude with a depth of 28 kilometers (17 miles).
The epicenter was seen at the sea 64 kms. east of coastal city of Hualien.
Taiwan is regularly hit by earthquakes as the island lies near the junction of two tectonic plates.
Some earthquakes with this kind of magnitude can be prove destruction, although much depends on where the quake strikes and at what depth.
Hualien, a tourist hotspot was struck by a 6.4-magnitude earthquake in 2018 that killed 17 peopleand injured nearly 300. While a 7.6-magnitude quake killed around 2,400 people in September 1999, the deadliest natural disaster in the island's history.
