Atty. John Albert Laylo, 35, was a victim of a random shooting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. over the weekend.

He was shot in the head while traveling in an Uber car with his mother, Leah Bustamante Laylo. In a Facebook post, his mother said that the lawyer has died at 10:33 a.m. on Sunday after fighting hard for his life.

"Before he left he made sure we had fun! But never did I imagine or dream that its almost the end of our vacation will be like this! We travelled together and we are supposed to go home together! I will bring him home soon in a box," he added.

Leah who also sustained injuries has been in Philadelphia since June 9 to visit a relatives and was supposed set to return home on the day of the shooting.

They planned to visit John Albert grandfather's grave in Chicago, Illinois when the shooting incident happened. He was brought to Penn Presbyterian medical Center.

John's sister, Althea Ann, said in tweet Monday that they find peace in the thought that "somewhere in the world, a piece of him is alive and breathing."

John "squeezed my mom's hand three times and started mildly breathing on his own," Althea Ann said in a tweet on Sunday.
