Edmodo is an educational website that brings the concepts of a social network and creates a suitable classroom. This free learning platform merges classroom, safe communication, and social assessment on social media.
Using Edmodo, students and teachers can reach out to one
another and connect by sharing ideas, problems, and helpful tips. It also helps
to get quick answers to questions on current class assignments and happenings
through their student planner and discussion threads.
However, the Free Learning Management System (LMS) has
announced shutting down its operations because it can't keep its services free
as it needs to maintain its quality.
On Tuesday, Edmodo posted on their Facebook page this
heart-breaking announcement.
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the
sunsetting of the Edmodo.com platform and service effective close of business
September 22, 2022. It has been an absolute pleasure serving over 100 million
users all over the world for almost 15 years. We could not have done it without
your continued loyalty & contribution to our global community. We apologize
for any inconvenience this news may cause. We remain committed to providing
support and resources until we turn out the lights.." -Edmodo breaking
announcement.
Edmodo’s data will be deleted by September 22, 2022.
Should users want to save any files and information uploaded on the LMS, they
need to manually import it to their own devices.
Edmodo is now on its 15-year on their mission to connect teachers, parents, and students to the tools and support they need throughout their education journey.
