Sharon Cuneta took to Instagram and shared her last hours moment with Cherie Gil before she passed away on August 5, 2022.
The Mega Star revealed that she was so emotional with a heavy heart after learning her dear friend, Cherie Gil, has died just eleven hours after they both said goodbye.
"I flew to New York early yesterday with a heavy heart,still forcing it to hang on to that sliver of hope of God performing a miracle&allowing you to pull through this," said Sharon.
But while the showbiz world publicly mourned the phenomenal actress, Sharon expressed thankful for "giving us (them) the few hours we (they) spent together..the love and words the love&words yet again exchanged in person…the knowledge that the friendship forged when we were very young was stronger&would only keep getting so."
Sharon says, Cherie gave her two thumbs up and exchanges I Love You's with her, but was heartbroken after receiving a call informing her death hours later.
"You told me about your tree to heaven outside of your apartment window which I didn’t get to see.We said “I love you”&I said I’d see you again today…& you raised both arms and gave me the thumbs up with both hands."
"Then barely eleven hours after I left you, I was awakened by his call saying you had passed…I leave New York now with a much heavier heart than ever before…because now I am leaving YOU with the knowledge that I will NEVER see you again," Sharon continued.
Both Sharon and Cherie co-stars in the iconic movie "Bituing Walang Ningning" where Cherie character throws the phrase, "You're nothing but a second-rate, trying hard copycat!" to Sharon's character Dorina.
Cherie has left with over 100 films, television shows, and theater plays.
