This Japanese man named Shoji Morimoto has what someone's dream job because he get paid by renting himself doing pretty much nothing.
The 38-year-old is known as "Rental-Do-Nothing-Man."
"Basically, I rent myself ouy. My job is to be wherever my clients want me to be, and to do nothing in particular," he told Reuters.
"What I mean by doing nothing is, I eat and drink (with my clients), and I answer their simple questions with simple answers," Morimoto added.
With his simple and average looks, he was able to boost nearly a quarter of a million followers on Twitter, where he finds most of his clients. And most of them are repeat clients, including one who has hired him 270 times.
He claimed that he has been rented over 4,000 times since the debut of his firm on Twitter page in 2018. Most of the services he has offered was to dine with customers, attend events, and occasionally lend a sympathetic ear.
Morimoto usually offered each reservation for 10,000 yen ($71.20). He said he did not start discussion but will provide straightforward answer if necessary. He also charge additional cost for transportation and if the schedule falls between mealtimes, clients will also provide for his food.
Aruda Chida, 27, a data analyst asked Morimoto assistance to come with her as she wanted to wear Indian dress 'sari'. They just enjoyed each others company while having tea and pastries. Chida was so anxious about wearing her national dress thinking her attire could embarrassed her friends.
Giving companion service is now Morimoto's sole source of income, with which he supports his wife and child. Although he declined to share how much he makes, he said he meet about one to two clients a day.
