JEWEL LOBATON, EX-WIFE OF SEN. KOKO PIMENTEL ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED ESTAFA

 Former Bb.Pilipinas-Universe 1998 Jewel May Lobaton was arrested in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte last Monday for the alleged involvement in an investment scam. 

Lobaton, a former wife of Senate Minority Floor Leader Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III was arrested for the violation of Article 315(a) of the Revised Penal Code-Estafa.

She has a pending warrant of arrest before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 226 since September 28, 2018, issued by Judge Manuel B. Sta. Cruz Jr. 

Meanwhile, Pimentel appeals to exclude his name from the news amid his ex-wife arrest. 

On Thursday he took to social media to call on media practitioners "to desist from mentioning me or the Pimentel name in connection with the news about the arrest of Jewel Lobaton."

"The marriage has long been dissolved / declared null & void both by the court and by the church. Meaning, Jewel Lobaton has no right to use the surname Pimentel," he said.

However, netizens are pointing out that the surname of the lawmaker was even used in the mugshots.

Pimentel and Lobaton's marriage was annulled in January 2018, years after they got separated in 2011. They have two sons.
