Commission on Population and Development welcomes the baby girl named Vinice Mabansag as the Philippines' symbolic 8 billionth citizen of the planet.
Baby Vinice was born normally and spontaneously by her mother Margarette at the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Medical Center in Manila at exactly 1:29 in the morning on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
POPCOM considered the newborn baby girl and other newborns as "future and potential contributors to the progress and development of the Philippines, given the right governmental and societal interventions on health, education, nutrition, and other fundamental needs".
Baby Vinice's successful delivery also manifests a triumph of the national health sector against maternal and neonatal fatalities which have seen a rise in cases in the past year said POPCOM.
Vinice was also born at a time when the total fertility rate in the Philippines is at an unprecedented decline, as reported by the Philippine Statistics Authority's 2022 National Health Demographic survey.
