After six years of planning and preparation, construction on the Negros Occidental Convention Center (NOCC) officially commenced with a groundbreaking ceremony in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City.
The two-story building, set to be the first government-owned convention center in Negros Island adhering to international standards, will serve as a premier venue for local and international events, accommodating up to 6,200 people within its 8,640-square-meter space.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson expressed his optimism about the project, emphasizing its potential to stimulate economic growth, generate employment, and bolster tourism. Strategically located near the Bacolod-Silay Airport and the Bacolod North Road, the NOCC is poised to become a vital regional hub.
The NOCC is expected to significantly contribute to the development of Guinhalaran and solidify Negros Occidental's position as a thriving tourism and convention destination.
The convention center is strategically located near the city's major road and with major establishments and will be the first government convention center of international design standards in the Negros Island.
