YG Entertainment Takes Legal Action Against Deepfake Content

K-pop agency YG Entertainment has announced it is pursuing legal action against those responsible for creating and distributing deepfake content involving its artists.

In a statement posted on its website, the agency expressed its "serious concern" over the "inappropriate" AI-generated synthetic videos.

"We are actively working to remove and block such malicious content," YG stated. "We are also exploring all available legal avenues, including criminal proceedings, to address this issue. We are committed to protecting the dignity and reputation of our artists."

YG Entertainment represents popular groups like BLACKPINK, TREASURE, and BABYMONSTER, as well as actors Yoo In Na, Jang Ki Yong, and Lee Sung Kyung. This action follows a similar vow by JYP Entertainment to take "strongest legal action" against deepfake content involving its artists, including TWICE, ITZY, Stray Kids, and Day6.

The recent discovery of Telegram chat rooms dedicated to sharing AI-generated pornography has sparked widespread concern in South Korea. President Yoon Suk Yeol has called for a thorough investigation into the matter.
