LANY Rocks Cebu: A Boost to Tourism, Aims to More International Acts

Cebu City has emerged as a thriving hub for live music, attracting both local and international artists. The city's growing popularity as a concert destination is evident in the recent visit of the American indie pop band, LANY.

Known for their dreamy pop sound, LANY has consistently included Cebu in their tour itineraries. Their three sold-out shows at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino from October 13th to 15th, 2024, marked their first solo headline performance in the Queen City of the South. The concerts drew close to 10,000 fans over the three nights, providing a significant boost to Cebu's tourism industry.

The LANY concerts had a ripple effect on the local economy. The Waterfront Hotel and Casino, where the shows took place, experienced a surge in bookings from fans. Additionally, restaurants, bars, and other businesses in the surrounding area benefited from increased foot traffic.

This positive impact aligns with the goals of the Tourism Promotions Board in partnership with Live Nation Philippines. By positioning Cebu as a global entertainment hub, they aim to attract more visitors to the city. Filipinos have a strong appreciation for live music, and Cebu's existing popularity as a tourist destination makes it an ideal venue for international acts.

The ease of accessibility to Cebu through Mactan International Airport further enhances its appeal. As soon as I arrived at the airport, I was greeted by LANY tarpaulins, a clear indication of the event's significance.

The LANY concerts undoubtedly rank among the biggest live events in Cebu City this year. They not only showcased the city's vibrant music scene but also contributed to its economic growth and tourism development.
