SUV With Special Plate Attempts to Run Over Traffic Enforcer

A disturbing incident involving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) with a special license plate took place on Sunday evening. The vehicle, reportedly driven by a senator or someone associated with a senator, attempted to run over a traffic enforcer after being caught driving illegally in a bus lane.

The incident occurred at 6:58 PM at the Guadalupe Station's northbound lane. A video shared by the Department of Transportation's Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT) captured the moment when the SUV, with license plate number 7, refused to cooperate with the enforcer and attempted to flee the scene.

Despite the enforcer's polite approach, the driver aggressively reversed the vehicle, narrowly missing the enforcer and another who was attempting to assist. The situation was further escalated by a passenger in the back seat who displayed a disrespectful gesture towards the officers.

Special license plates with the number 7 are reserved for senators. However, these plates are only valid during a senator's term and can only be issued to vehicles owned by or officially assigned to them.

Senate President Francis Escudero has condemned the incident, urging the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to identify the owner-user of the vehicle. He emphasized that the driver's actions, as well as the passenger's behavior, were unlawful. Escudero also called on any senator involved in the incident to come forward and address the situation responsibly.

The incident has sparked public outrage and raised concerns about the abuse of power and privilege. Authorities are investigating the matter and taking appropriate actions to hold those responsible accountable.
