Filipino priest Fr. Patalinghug shares Lenten recipe


A cooking priest from the Philippines share his simple and super quick Lenten recipe with delicious flavors that also goes along with the Lenten theme of “Simplicity.”


Fr. Leo Patalinghug is a priest member of a community of consecrated life, Voluntas Dei (Latin phrase that means ‘The Will of God’). This community is a Secular Institute of Pontifical Rite. He is alsso a host for the TV show Savoring our faith on EWTN and bestselling author.

Fr. Leo was born in the Philippines and raised in the Baltimore area, Fr. Leo actually developed his love in cooking while attending the seminary at the North America in Rome. There, he became friendly with several Italian restaurant. Maybe you can try this during Lent.

Recipe Ingredients:
Fresh parsley, finely minced
2 tablespoons butter
1-2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 clove garlic, finely minced (1/2 teaspoon)
Handful of cherry tomatoes – cut in half
Shrimp (3-4 per person)
Salt and pepper to taste

Direction:
Cook pasta according to instructions and reserve ¼ cup of starchy water. Put aside.
Melt butter until at smoking point. Add garlic and saute. Add smoked paprika and cook, then add tomatoes, some chopped parsley and shrimp, and  cook a few more minutes. Add the pasta and mix all together. Add salt and pepper to taste and add water if necessary. Sprinkle with rest of parsley.
