India recorded an extreme heat wave 51C

As the world continues to change its course, a very hot summer has been recorded in India with 51C, in the city of Phalodi, Rajasthan last week. India's highest-ever recorded temperature last week, is melting roads of some India's busiest cities.

A video footage from NDTV shows people becoming trapped on a melting road surface as their shoes stick in the softening tarmac.

Abandoned sandals are seen strewn across the sticky roadway and a woman falls over as she attempts to carry a heavy bag over the road.

50.6C has been recorded in 1956 in the city of Alwar and Rajasthan. Indian weather officials has warned people of more frequent heat waves as the scorching temperatures cause an increase in dehydration and heatstroke cases, as well as triggering widespread power interruption as surging demand in supply of power.

Hundreds of people reportedly died as crops have withered in the fields in more than 13 states, forcing farmers to abandon their land and move into the cities.

In some other shocking reports, financially-crippled women are forced into prostitution just to support their family needs.

In the United Nations conference in Paris, Mr Modi blamed richer nations around the world for the country's sufferiing, saying India was suffering the effects of climate change without having necessarily caused it themselves.

"Climate change is a major global challenge. But it is not of our making. It is the result of global warming that came from prosperity and progress of an industrial age powered by fossil fuel," he said
