DOLE chief proposes P100 wage increase across-the-board

Duterte's new Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) undersecretary is proposing a P100 salary increase across the board.

Labor Undersecretary Joel Maglunsod said the proposed additional pay is just an immediate assistance for the Filipino workers.

"This is my personal suggestion, para magkaroon ng agarang relief ang mga manggagawa natin, kailangang magkaroon ng wage increase across-the-board, P125 sana. Pending na 'yan na hinihingi ng manggagawa sa Kongreso. Hindi man P125, kahit P100," he said.

However, he admitted that such proposal has to be studied, adding that he would present it to President Rodrigo Duterte and would also consult stakeholders.

"Pero it takes time yan. Kailangan pag-aralan munang mabuti. Ang habol natin is economic relief,e. Imumungkahi natin 'yan kay President, pero syempre in consultation with management, employers," the DOLE official said.

He added that the proposal will depend on the President or Congress if they will approve or not.
