Indonesian President Widodo orders police to shoot down drug traffickers

Indonesian President ordered Police Officers to shoot drug dealers in the country if they attempt to resist arrest. The controversial remarks echo those of Duterte who, upon being elected, launched a brutal crackdown on suspected drug dealers in the country.

"Be firm, especially to foreign drug dealers who enter the country and resist arrest," Mr. Widodo said in a speech at an event held by one of Indonesia's political parties. Indonesia has already tough laws against illegal drugs. Widodo has been criticized for ordering the deaths of convicted drug traffickers.

His remarks have drawn comparison to Duterte's illegal drugs drive causing international community criticism. Rodrigo Duterte , who launched  a brutal anti-drug crackdown over the years has led to the deaths of many alleged drug dealers.
