Manila,Philippines - President Rodrigo Duterte said during his speech in the opening ceremony of the 6th Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Accredited National Convention of Public Attorneys on September 18, order an arrest of individuals caught drinking alcoholic beverages in public places.
"We are a narco-state. My God, you better believe me, maski mga barangay ninyo, magtanong kayo sa tao. We are all lawyers," he said. "Tingnan niyo may maglakad pa ba na - eh ngayon, sabi ko sa pulis: pikapin mo."
"I do not want anybody standing there, mag-tambay. Kasi 'yung tambay sa Pilipinas, we talk of contemporary times, what's happening to the environment now?" he noted." You have to comfront the guy: ano bang ginagawa niyo dito?"
"Sabi ko, Pag mag-inuman in public place, arestuhin mo. (I said, if someone drinks in a public place, arrest them."
Even though some cases loiterers are not planning to commit crime, Duterte said it's best to make sure in order to protect citizens.
