Philippines set up joint oil offshore exploration with China

An oil and gas offshore exploration in the Northwest part of Palawan is now awaiting the signature of President Duterte, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi said.

“We have already finished the documentation, the contract and we presented it already to the Office of the President. SC 57 is within the Philippine territory,” he said.

The exploration will focus in the offshore Calamian northwest of Palawan is a joint venture of PNOC Exploration Corp (PNOC-EC), Mitra Energy Ltd.(MEL) and China National Offshore Oil Co (CNOOC).

The Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary Donato Marcos said that the area SC 57 has nothing to do with sovereignty issue nor the disputed part of the West Philippine sea.
