10 richest provinces in the Philippines 2016

Manila, Philippines - Two new provinces gained spots among the wealthiest provinces in the Philippines, the province of Iloilo and Nueva Ecija are the two places earlier listed in the top 10.

According to the annual Commission on Audit's report released on October 12, 2016, Iloilo ranked the seventh spots after gaining more than P8.14 billion in assets, increase by almost P3 billion compared to the 2015 audit. 

Meanwhile, Nueva Ecija replaced Negros Oriental in ninth place with total assets worth P7.22 billion.

Cebu's assets are almost three times larger than runner-up Rizal's P11.73 billion, which is up from P9.55 billion in the 2015 COA report. Negros Occidental retained its third place after posting a total assets of P11.04 billion.

Palawan and Bulacan placed the top five richest provinces at P9.98 billion and P8.96 billion, respectively. Palawan slip to sixth place despite an increase to P8.2 billion from P6.6 billion in 2015, while Laguna continously maintaining ranks to eight place with P7.56 billion assets. Leyte placed its 10th spots at P7.03 billion.
