Bacolod aims to be the first Game Developer Hub of the country

Bacolod, Philippines - Following to the construction of first Bacolod Cyber Center, the information and communications technology (ICT) stakeholders aims to position the city as a center for game development industry in the Philippines.

Negros Occidental Federation for ICT (BNEFIT) officially launched in 2013 with the advocacy to step up the sector for healthcare information management(HIM), software development and creative processes, focuses on animation and game development.

At present, Audacity Studio Design and Games Enterprise (Adage),Inc and Holysoft Studios as a startup companies are taking the lead for BNEFIT's program in the creative industry. The K to 12 senior high school will benefit this kind of exposure specialized to creative industry. Romanito National High School, a public school in the city offers its senior and junior school students illustration and animation.

In June of this year, La Consolacion College - Bacolod will start to offer Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing with Major in Game Development and University of St. La Salle - Bacolod will be offering Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Specialization in Game Development.

The goal is to create 60,000 ICT-enabled jobs in 2022 and around a thousand of it from the creative sector and game development.
