House Approves 10-Day Incentive Leave With Pay

Manila, Philippines - The House of Representatives has approved on third and final reading a bill seeking to increase the paid incentive leave of employees from five to 10 days.

The House of Representatives unanimously approved House Bill 6770, mainly authored by Baguio Rep. Mark Go.

"The bill will now be forwarded to the Senate for its consideration and approval, and I am hopeful that our Senate Counterparts will pass it before the year ends," Go told PNA.

The proposed amendment to the Labor Code provides that every employee who has rendered at least one year of service would be entitled to a yearly service incentives leave of 10 days.

Under the bill, an employee can convert unused service incentives leaves to cash at the end of the year, the author said.

Well, the provision shall not apply to those who are already enjoying such benefit, those enjoying a vacation leave of at least 10 days with pay, and those in establishment regularly employing less than 10 people.
