Muslim Pinay Sharifa Akeel Crowned Miss Asia Pacific International 2018

Sharifa Akeel of the Philippines was crowned as the Asia Pacific International 2018 queen. The Sultan Kudarat beauty hails 49 other candidates at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre in resorts World Manila.

Sharifa is the fifth Filipina to win the said pageant, among the four are: Maria del Carmen Ines Zaragoza (1982), Gloria Dimayacyac (1983), Lorna Legaspi (1989), and Michelle Aldana (1993).

Akeel succeeds Brazil's 2017 winner Fracielly Ouriques.

Her runners-up are Gabriela Palma of Brazil, Melania Gonzales of Costa Rica, Misheelt Narmandakh of Mongolia, and Marina Angarita of Venezuela, respectively.
