NU Pep Squad won UAAP cheerdance competition 2018

The National University(NU) Pep Squad won the 2018 UAAP cheerdance competition after claiming fifth-place last year.

Last year's champ Adamson Pep Squad placed 2nd runner-up with a bright orange Lion King theme and 1st runner- up goes to FEU cheering squad. While the special award for Best  Toss was given to UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe.


The 2018 UAAP cheerdance Competition kick-off on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena. Eight schools competed once again to defend or take the crown for this year's cheerdance supremacy.

ABS-CBN Sports anchor Nikko Ramos and Janeena Chan will be hosting the country's yearly competition, which will air LIVE on S+A and S+A HD at 2 p.m.

The Adamson University pep squad seeks Back-to-Back wins  were they garnered five-peat bid in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition in 2017 but failed to defend the crown.

Some expectations are also hooked to the performance of the University of the Philippines, UST, Ateneo, and De la Salle and NU pep squad.

The group performances was scored based on the quality and difficulty of their dance, stunts, pyramids,tumbling and some other tricks. 

Additional awards like "Yamaha Toss Winner" for the client's choice Best Toss in the competition. 

The Second runner-up for the competition will receive P20,000 and medals from the UAAP and P20,000 from Yamaha.First runner-up to get P30,000 and medals from the UAAP and P25,000 while the champion will get P50,000 along with medals and P30,000 from Yamaha.
