Woman in Comatose state for a decade gives birth to baby boy at Hacienda Healthcare

It is a very rare case when a woman got pregnant while in comatose stage. However, a woman who got pregnant while in a vegetative state born a baby boy report said.



She gave birth in December, even though she's been comatose at a healthcare facility for more than a decade. Police are collecting DNA samples, as they investigate how she got pregnant.

The incident have faced backlash in social media asking why police will not call it a sex crime investigation. However, families are voicing concerns over Hacienda Healthcare amidst controversy.

Phoenix Police served a search warrant to obtain DNA from male Hacienda Healthcare staff members.


Hacienda Healthcare has issued a statement following the incident.

"As a company, we welcome this development in the ongoing police investigation. We had consulted attorneys to determine whether it would be legal for a company to compel our employees to undergo DNA testing conducted through Hacienda or for Hacienda to conduct voluntary genetic testing of staffers. We were told it would be a violation of federal law in either instance.

"Hacienda stands committed to doing everything in our power to bring this police investigation to a quick conclusion. We will continue to cooperate with Phoenix Police and all other other".

However, longtime Chief Executive Officer of Hacienda Healthcare Bill Timmons resigned immediately today amidst the investigation. However a former Hacienda manager said exclusively to CBS 5 Briana Whitney about patient abuse she says Timmons forced his management team to cover up years ago in a closed-door meeting
