CPD Law New Implementing Rules and Guidelines Released, Effective March 1, 2019

Manila, Philippines - Here's the official Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Republic Act 10912 or the CPD law of 2016 that was published on Wednesday, February 13 that will take effect after 15 days.



The document that was signed by Chairman Teofilo Pilando Jr., Commissioner Yolanda D. Reyes and Commissioner Jose Y. Cueto Jr. will officially take effect on March 1, 2019.

Since the start of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Law, numerous complaints has been received by the commission from different professional groups to find for the solutions.

Among the provision under the new rules include:

* CPD is still mandatory for the renewal of PRC ID of all registered and license professionals.
* From 45 units required, now, it's down to 15 units every three years.
* Government and private employees who undergone in-house training and other capacity-building activities, shall be credited and considered as CPD compliance.

Here are some of the guidelines during the transition period of implementation:

*Professionals working abroad shall not be covered by the CPD requirement during the period of their employment abroad.

*Newly licensed professionals shall be exempted from CPD requirements for their first renewal.

*CPD councils shall reduce the required CPD units to a minimum which shall not be more than 15 CPD units.

*All seminars attended by licensed professionals should be recognized as CPD units and shall be accepted as valid for the renewal of their licenses.

For the professionals who already renewed by executing an undertaking shall only comply with the required number of units as amended pursuant to this resolution equivalent to not more than 15 credit units.
