The 18-year-old from Louisiana Laine Hardy hailed as the winner of season 17 of American Idol, Sunday, May 19. His comeback proved that he deserve to win, as he beat out Alejandro Aranda and Madison VanDenburg. Laine previously appeared on season 16 but he was eliminated at the top 50.
During the finale, each of the top three performed two new songs. Then later judges, picked two remaining finalists, Laine performed Sam Cooke song 'Bring It On Home To Me' while Alejandro sang his original song Out Loud.
After the viewer voting, host Ryan Seacrest announced Laine as the winner and he performed his original song Flame.
