Sipalay City in Negros Occidental is Erik Matti's perfect spot for new film "Food Lore"

As the mastermind behind the thought-provoking Honor Thy Father, the intense On The Job, and BuyBust - direct Erik Matti is excited for the people of Sipalay in Negros Occidental to be part of HBO's original production "Food Lore".

Food Lore is an eight-part anthology series focused on Asian cuisine, created by Singaporean filmmaker Eric Khoo, the showrunner of last year's HBO Asia original series "Folklore."

The food series is a collaboration among leading Asian filmmakers from Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Matti is directing the episode about Filipino food, and one of the place he chose is the beautiful place of Sipalay in Negros Occidental. Sipalay, known as the 'Jewel of Negros' is known for its rich culture, natural landscape, and rich biodiversity that visitors have so much to explore.

Matti shared photos on Instagram showing the place, food and most important are the hospitable locals.

"We’re done with Sipalay. Thank you to the people of Sipalay for being patient with us. We were running around the city and everyone was ready to give a helping hand and accomodate us. Such great hospitality. Mga Negrense guid! Pwerte ka alwan. I loved our stay here. Met wonderful people, old and new friends. Salamat guid sa bulig ninyo. Kabay pa nga mapabugal nyo guid ang guinobra di namon nga sintas. Hope to make you all proud when this film comes out. You can see from all of the crew’s faces how much they are having a grand time here in Sipalay," He wrote.
