This Plastic Bartir Store in Cebu is open to give people food in exchange of plastic trash

Cebu, Philippines - It is estimated to be 1.15 to 2.41 million tonnes of plastic are entering the ocean each year from water ways. The severe problem with plastics now a days must need a quick attention and sincere action from everybody.

One of the most affected place in the Philippines is Cebu City, the second progressive island next to Manila.Around 70% of Cebu drainage were clogged with all kind of trash, mostly plastics during heavy downpour.

Now, it's great to see private sectors are also doing their best to help solve this problem in parallel with the government effort. This house of samaritan in Cebu City is making the rounds in social media as the best example of helping the environment, at the same time giving people's need.

People can exchange any plastic materials such as plastic bottles, shampoo bottles, and wrappers. And in return people could choose from the available items they want like a pack of rice, sardines, clothes and even school supplies for their kids like notebooks and pencils. Impressive, isn't it?

Depending on weight of the recyclable plastics, people will receive a pack of rice or a can of sardines.

People are happy to the idea when the store was launched, as this will help them from throwing the plastics and have them exchanged for an item instead.

According to the owner Adrian Lee of the Rotary Club Cebu chapter, these collected plastics will later use in the production of eco-hollowblocks as a livelihood project under the 12 Baskets Movement.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays.
