6.4-magnitude earthquake rattles Southern California in 4th of July

A huge 6.4 magnitude earthquake shook Southern California on 4th of July, the day of American Independence. The tremor was widely felt around the region as many are busy preparing to celebrate Independence Day on Thursday.



US Geological Survey reported that the quake started 11 miles from east northeast of Ridgecrest, California at 10:33 a.m. Aftershocks of 4.7 and 3 magnitudes were recorded five minutes later.
