Russian boxer Maxim Dadashev dies after sustaining injury in bout against Subriel Matias

The 28-year-old Maxim Dadashev was reportedly unable to walk to the dressing room after his bout was stopped at the end of the 11th round on Friday, against Puerto Rican Subriel Matias.


He was hospitalized after the bout with bleeding on the brain and underwent surgery but failed to recover.

His trainer Buddy McGirt pleads with him to stop the fight after seeing Dadashev shaking his head in his corner.

Russian Boxing Federation secretary general Umar Kremlev urge to investigate the incident for some kind of violation.

"I believe that some human factors intervened, that there was some kind of violation."

He was originally from the city of Saint Petersburg in Russia but had fought exclusively in the United States since turning professional in 2016.

Dadashev had won 11 of his previous 13 fights by way of knockout prior to his bout with Matias in Maryland.
