Emergency response team rushed to a rescue mission before 5am (11am GMT) near Santa Cruz Island off the coast of California early Monday morning, report said. At least 34 people are feared dead after a diving boat has sank after explosion.

Five people were rescued and other 34 people on board have not been accounted for, according to report. Fire rescue team are at the scene and are attempting to put out the fire. The US Coast Guard responded with two helicopters, two 45-foot Swift boats and an 87-foot cutter.
“The Coast Guard has launched multiple rescue assets along with assets from local agencies to assist more than 30 people in distress on a 75ft boat near Santa Cruz Island,” the Coast Guard tweeted.

Watchstanders launched two Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crews, a Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco Forward Operating Base Mugu Dolphin MH-65 helicopter crew, a Coast Guard Air Station San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and the Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal.
The vessel currently has a portion of the bow sticking out of the water.
