Michael Jordan is donating $1 million to Bahamas relief efforts

Michael Jordan has pledged to donate $1 million for devastated Bahamas as part of the ongoing relief efforts, the NBA legend announced Tuesday.

"I am devastated to see the destruction  that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently. "My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and those who have lost loved ones,” Jordan said in a statement tweeted by his spokeswoman and manager, Estee Portnoy.

Hurricane Dorian has reportedly displaced more than 70,000 people in the region is bracing for a long road of rehabilitation.  

Jordan said that he will keep on monitoring the relief efforts and will choose non-profits organizations where his donations will have the most impact.

This is not the first time that the NBA legend has extended his amazing gestures to hurricane relief efforts. He even donated more money after Hurricane Florence hit his home state in North Carolina last year.
