This 9-year-old boy Laurent Simons from Amsterdam, who is currently studying for a degree in electrical engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology, is set to graduate next month after completing his studies in just nine months. he has an IQ of at least 145.
At the aged of eight, Laurent completed his secondary school and now he will going to finish his first degree in December. He will be the world's youngest graduate from Michael Kearney, who gained a degree from the University of Alabama at the age of ten.
The first people to discover Laurent's talent were actually his grandparents. His parents thought that they were exaggerating until Laurent's teachers told them.
He told telegraph that he wants to travel to California to continue his studies because the weather is good there, but his father Alexander is also keen to consider moving to the UK.
“Oxford and Cambridge are also in the major league and it would be very much more convenient for us,” the 37-year-old dentist said.
“Laurent's aim is to do a PhD into life extension, by carrying out research into artificial organs and robotics. It would be great if he could study in the UK,” he added.
Laurent, who was born in Belgium, has been labelled a child genius and compared to Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking. He can also speak four languages.
Laurent says he wants to go to Japan for a vacation to take a little break before jumping back to the university of his choice to continue his academics.
