The world will experience the longest night on December 22

The Philippines, along with the rest of the world will experience the longest night this year, this will going to happen on December 22. Due to the winter solstice, the darkness will be extending more than 12 hours (PH standard time) on Sunday.

The winter solstice or known as the December solstice, signals the start of winter in the Northern Hemisphere where the sun gives off fewest sunlight as it lies at its farthest point south of the equator.

This means that the world has completed another annual circuit around the sun, according to experts.

Those living in Northern Luzon most likely to experience a longer night compared to those living in Mindanao, since the duration of nighttime will also depend on one's location with reference to the distance from the equator.

According to the report, Basco, Batanes will have 13 hours and five minutes of nighttime, compared to 12 hours and 14 minutes in General Santos City.
