The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has raised the status of Taal Volcano to alert level to 3, January 12, 2020 as it spewed plumes. Alert Level 3 also means magma is near or at the surface, and activity could lead to hazardous eruption.
Evacuation has been ordered for residents near the crater to move on the safer ground. Phivolcs has already recorded three earthquakes recorded related to the eruption.
