Mayor Vico Sotto Decries Another Surge Of Fake News

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto is once again battling a bit of fake news that has popped up on the internet. It's a claim circulated via social media that his office took kickbacks from the printing costs of the city's official calendars.

Social media posts had claimed that the Pasig governenment paid a whopping P36.7 million for the printing of the calendars.

To his defense, Sotto refuted the claim on Friday saying that the city government saved more than P9 million, as it paid P4.5 million for a quality printing of the calendars. He added that based on the old prices for the same project had cost the city at P14,586,250.

"Approved Budget for the Contract (pinakamataas na puwedeng i-bid) = P14,586,250
(based on old prices).

"WINNING BIDDER (JK GEN MDSE) = P4,901,000 lamang.

"at nasa tamang kalidad nung nag-deliver (GSM ng papel ang sukatan)," the Mayor said.

The mayor slammed those behind the fake news.

Ngunit basta't nasa katotohanan tayo, di tayo magpapatinag. Tuloy ang laban," He added.
