This LRT-2 East Extension Project Is Near Completion That Will Cut Commuters Travel Time

The LRT-2 East Extension Project is a 3.8-kilometer rail extension line which will connect the existing LRT-2 end point Santolan Station to Masinag, Antipolo City. Project construction consist of three packages.

Package 1 is the construction of the viaduct, and this is already 100% complete. Package 2 is the design and build of two additional stations - Emerald Station located at Marikina City, and the Masinag Station in Antipolo City - and this is now 96.12% COMPLETE.

Meanwhile, Package 3, which is the design and build of the trackworks and electromechanical component system, is at 37.56% completion rate. Overall, our progress report for the LRT--2 East Extension Project is at 76.90% as of end-2019.

Once completed, this will reduce travel time from Manila to Antipolo from 3 hours via PUB or PUJ to only 40 minutes. It is also expected to increase ridership, and accommodate an additional 80,000 passengers daily.
