Thai Doctors Claim Two Mixture Of Drugs Has Cured Patient Of Coronavirus In 48 Hours

Thai doctors has reportedly seen good result for their Chinese patient who was diagnosed positive of Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV). After using a mixture of two antiviral drugs which are usually used to treat HIV and flu, they found a significant improvement to the patient within 48 hours.

The discovery was made in the case of 70-year-old Chinese woman who was first admitted from Hua Hin Hospital and later transferred to Rajavithi Hospital. The doctors decided to use oseltamivir, an anti-flu drug used to treat the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS), as well as lopinavir and ritonavir, two AIDS drugs, according to the Bangkok Post report.

The unnamed woman was tested positive for coronavirus for 10 days before doctors administered her with a combination of anti-HIV and flu treatment medication, Rajavithi Hospital lung physician Kriangsak Atipornwanich said at a news conference.

After 48 hours the patient was cleared from the virus, Kriangsak said. Adding that the lab test results was thoroughly cross-examined by Chulalongkorn Hospital and the Department of Medical Sciences. 

Thailand has 19 confirmed cases for coronavirus infection - 11 are still hospitalized and the rest have returned home.

Department director Somsak Akkslip said the finding will be shared with the international medical community.
